If the communication between our mobile phone and the transmitter-multiplexer is serial,  it takes 15 up cycle of the clock to complete an update of physical address. 

Me: Ok.

John : However,  the situation isn't too pessimistic.  Why? See the Picture above.  This Register has 4 bits. The 1st bit is data input.  The 2nd, 3rd and 4th bits are update of physical address. 

Me: That mean,  during 1 up cycle of the clock line,  4 bits enter the register. 

John : Yes,

Originally,  1 bit during 1 up cycle of the clock line. (Serial communication between our mobile phone and transmitter multiplexer )

Become,

4 bits during 1 up cycle of the clock line. (Parallel communication between our mobile phone and transmitter multiplexer)

John : By using this method,  we need not update our physical address 2 times per second.  

Me: Ok.

John: We can update our physical address 100 times per second. 

Me: 100 times per second ?
